Café De Prins

A moderately-priced Dutch/French restaurant in the Canal Zone of Amsterdam

One of the best values in the city, this tiny neighborhood place is so popular for its inexpensive brown cafe-style food that the limited tables fill up fast, so call ahead.

In a 17th-century canalside house, solid Dutch and French dishes are expertly prepared at remarkably low prices. This place is one of your best bets for rubbing elbows with the locals.

In fine weather, they also set our tables on the terrace across the street overlooking the Prinsengracht canal.

It's also open late, until 1am (though the kitchen closes at 10pm).
