Bikers of the World, Unite!
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota's Black Hills
Riding through Custer State Park en route to Sturgis, South Dakota Since 1938, tens of thousands of choppers descend upon this small South Dakota city in the Balck Hills each summer for the largest motorcycle gathering in the country, and one of the biggest in the world.
Though 400,000 riders about average these days, upwards of 600,000 have shown up some years. (That said, some folks drive the entire family out to South Dakota in an RV and actually only get off to ride the bike—whch has otherwise been strapped to the trailer halfway across the country—for the final few miles into towns.)
There are concerts and bike shows, parades and an actual rally race.
