Bryce Canyon

The hoodoo rock pinnacles crowding Bryce Canyon in Southwestern Utah are one of the scenic wonders of the U.S.

The hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, Utah

Not as big as the Grand Canyon, but far weirder and arguably more beautiful. Bryce Canyon is filled with colorfully striped pinnacles of rock called hoodoos, like some vast art installation made by alien termites or the kind of sand castle Salvador Dalí might build at the beach.

They are particularly spectacular at sunset, and the hopelessly complex maze they form once you get down amongst the hoodoos make for an eerie place to hike or take a horseback ride. Full Story
