Brooks Hotel
A classy modern hotel with the most central location in all of Dublin
You simply cannot get more central than this, bang in the heart of Dublin and less than a ten-minute walk from practially everything: Trinity College, Temple Bar, St. Stephen's Green, Christ Church Cathedral... you name it.
The fact that its a comfy, modern, four-star luxury hotel with 98 rooms and all the amenities (including free WiFi and—get this—a pillow menu) makes it that much more attractive.
If it were just a shade cheaper (the rack rates peg it above €200, but online booking can get it down as low as €125), I'd make this my go-to hotel for location alone.
Though most staff are is professional and friendly, the wait service at breakfast is oddly lacking. Oh, there's plenty on the buffet, and you can order more from the cooked breakfast menu, but the service is slipshod and largely deaf to requests. I hate to harp, but it was truly odd. It took 15 mintues for them to bring me tea one morning (and they forgot the toast); the next day they brought the tea and toast, but then hurried away with my toast still on the serving tray (though they did leave me the butter); the next day they brought me coffee by accident and then waited 20 minutes to ask if I wanted a cooked breakfast...
OK, I'm done venting.
The only other downside to this fine hotel is that, sadly, there's a pub one block away and around the corner that lets its noisy partiers and pulsing music beat spill out into the streets until well after midnight from Thursday to Saturday nights—then again, that's par for the course just about everywhere in central Dublin.
