How to get from Dublin airport to the city center
The bus to or from Dublin airport
between The city-run 747 Airlink bus (30–55 min; €6; www.dublinbus.ie) runs every 15 minutes from 6am to 11:30pm (arriving in the off-hours? Use the private Air Coach, detailed below).
The Dublin airport bus makes a dozen stops en route to Heuston rail station; most useful for tourists are Gardiner Street Lower (lots of cheap guesthouses), O'Connoll Street, College Green/Temple Bar, and Christchurch Cathedral.
Slower but cheaper, city bus 16A will do the job in about 40–50 minutes for €2.30, and drop you off at O'Connoll Street, College Green, South Great George's Street, and Aungier Street (then keeps trundling on into the southern suburbs).
A taxi to or from Dublin airport
A taxi to or from the airport to Dublin city center will cost €20 to €30 and take 20 to 30 minutes form downtown (up to 40 minutes in heavy traffic), 30 to 40 minutes from Ballsbridge.
To get from Dublin airport to Ballsbridge
If your hotel is in Ballsbridge, the bus mentioned above is useless. Better to grab the private Air Coach to Ballsbridge (60 min., €8, www.aircoach.ie), with departures every 15–20 minutes from 4:30am to 12:30am (then hourly on the half-hour from 12:30am to 4:30am).
The bus has stops downtown at O'Connoll Street, Grafton Street, and Merrion Square (all €7, 40–50 min.), then continues on to Ballsbridge with stops at The Schoolhouse Hotel, Pembroke Road, Merrion Road, and Simmonscourt Road.
