How to get into downtown Dublin from the ferry ports
If you're arriving in Ireland by boat you will arrive at one of two ports. Most ferries arrive in Dublin Port, but there's one daily Stena Line sailing from Holyhead in Wales that arrives insetad at Dún Laoghaire, a pretty little town on the south arm of Dublin Bay.
- Dublin Port (www.dublinport.ie) is practically downtown, just 4km east-northeast of the city center, which is 20 minutes by bus (no 53B) to the Busaras Central Bus Station near Custom House (www.dublinbus.ie). Buses are timed to coincide with ferry arrivals and departures. The ticket fare is €2.50.
- Dún Laoghaire Harbour (www.dlharbour.ie) is an 18-minute ride on the DART train from Tara Street Station, just north of Trinity College, in downtown Dublin (€2.40; www.irishrail.ie).
