Stauntons on the Green Guesthouse
A budget gem on the chicest square in Dublin
Stauntons is one of the most historic-feeling hotels in the center of Dublin. Installed in a Georgian townhouse on St. Stephen's Green, Dublin's central square, its windows are tall, ceilings high, furnishings traditional, and fireplaces blazing in the public rooms.
It's not the fanciest place in town (despite the location), but that's kind of the point: you are getting a simple, if plesantly furnished room, at one of the choicest addresses in town, yet paying less than half what, say, the premier Shelbourne across the square charges.
The 54 rooms are nice, if not huge, with rosewood modular furnishings and heavy drapes to class the joint up a bit. One fabulous amenity is that there is green outside just about every window, since even the back rooms look out over Iveagh Gardens.
The rates include breakfast.
