Munich by taxi
Getting around Munich by taxi cab
Taxis in Munich. (Photo by Brian Sahagun)
With such a great public transportation system, there is little need to take a taxi cab in Munich. Taxis congragate where you would expect: by train stations and major squares. Or just go to a major street and flag one down (or you can call a cab).
Just in case you feel like splurging, here is what you need to know.
Munich taxi fares
- Flag fall (basic fare): €2.90
- Cost per kilometer:
- Up to 5km: €1.60
- 5–10km: €1.40
- More than 10km: €1.25
- Flat rate to/from airport: €51 (a truly bad deal)
- Luggage: €0.50 per piece
- Order fee (if you phone for a taxi rather than flagging one down): €1
Ordering up a taxi by phone (to pick you up at, say, your hotel or a restaurant) will add an extra €1 onto the total charge.
