There are long-distance bus services to Italy from elsewhere in Europe... but why?
The train is far faster and easier, and a flight on a low-cost carrier will be not only way faster but often cheaper.
My rule of thumb: Any trip that will take up to around six hours by train should be taken by train.
Any trip longer than that, just hop a cheap, no-frills airline flight.
That said, some prefer to travel by long-distance coach, and the best way to do that in Europe is with Eurolines (www.eurolines.com), which offers point-to-point tickets as well as multi-ride bus passes.
You can find a few other options at ibus.it.
