Munich discounts
Discounts and savings on sights and attractions in Munich
Worthwhile savings
- Save on Sundays: On Sundays, admission to many Munich museums is just €1.
- Cumulative museums ticket: For €12, you can get a Day Pass ticket good at the Alte Pinakothek (to which admission is €7), the Neue Pinakothek (also €7) and three other Munich art museums: the Pinakothek de Moderne (contemporary art; €10), Museum Brandhorst (contemporary art; €7), and Sammlung Shack (19th-century German painting; €4).
NOT worthwhile savings
Do not bother with the München City Tour Card (www.citytourcard-muenchen.com).
It is bascially the Tageskarte (day ticket) transport pass but with some sightseeeing and other discounts thrown in. It costs (roughly) €4 more than the plain vanilla Tageskarte for the one-day pass, €6.60 more for the three-day.
However, those additional discounts are not all that great.
The discounts are mostly for third-rate sights and activities (plus discounts on a bunch of walking tours, bus tours, and Segway tours).
The only savings at truly major sighs are a paltry €1 off each at the Residenz and various sights at the Nymphemburg Palace.
However, if you're planning to visit the BMW Museum as well, this pass might work out for that day, since the discount on that admission is €3.
