Agrigento visitor information: Oddly, Agrigento has no official tourism website, but the provinical government site www.provincia.agrigento.it does have a basic (if incomplete) tourism section. The best info comes directly from the archaeological park's site: www.parcovalledeitempli.it.
How to get to Agrigento: Agrigento is on the southern coast of Sicily, roughly in the middle, just off Sicily's southern coastal route, the SS115, which—if you are driving the classic ring around Sicily—you can follow from Castelvetrano near Selinute or from Siracusa. If you are not driving, the best way to get there is actually by bus. (Unless you're coming from Palermo, in which case the train is faster.) » more

If your time is limited, just hit the temples. There's nothing of consequence to see in the city itself.
The Festival of Almond Blossoms (first weekend in February) is a celebration of local folklore with music, flag tossing, and traditional foods held in the temple zone.
For years the only ATM in town that would accept American bankcards or credit cards was the San Paolo branch at the northeast corner (far left as you exit Via Atenea) on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, across from the cinema and post office. This is likely to have changed, but I include the tip just in case.
