Set just off the noisy harbor road near the Castel dell'Ovo, the 1960s-era Rex is installed with mdoenr comforts in a Liberty-style building, making it a great bargain in Naples' toniest area (it's directly behind the top hotels in town).
The modular pine furnishings, wicker chairs, hideous port-a-lamps, and brown or speckled-green floor tiles hint at the era in which it was built, but everything's been maintained immaculately, save the odd plumbing glitch.
Prints on the walls and the occasional painted ceiling brighten the lackluster decor considerably, and in summer the air-conditioning can be a godsend.
Most accommodations are amply sized without being large, and the beds are comfortable enough, but some older baths have shower nozzles with nowhere to hang them.
