Catania is about halfway down Sicily's eastern shore on the A18 highway. It is the transportation hub for eastern Sicily.

Catania's Stazione Centrale train station (tel. +39-095-532-226) is on Piazza Giovanni XXIII Papa, right by the sea where Corso Martiri della Libertà , Via Archimede, and Via Marchese di Casalotto hit Via VI Aprile/Viale Africa.
The Aeroporto di Catania "Vincenzo Bellini" - Fontanarossa (tel. +39-095-340-505; www.aeroporto.catania.it) is just 6.5km southwest of the center of Catania.
The Catania aiport has connections to most major cities in Italy and across Europe, including flights on Alitalia (naturally) but also on low-cost carriers like easyJet, Meridiana, blue-express, and Air Berlin.
You can fly from Rome to Catania for as little as €40; from Naples to Catania for €75.

AMT bus 457 "Alibus" goes every 20 minutes (5am to midnight) from Catania's Stazione Centrale train station and first makes a loop through town (north up Viale della Liberta, west on Corso Italia and Viale XX Settmebre, south on Via Etnea, anden back east aong Corso Siclia), passing once again through Piazza Giovanni XXIII Papa (in front of the train station) before turning south down Via VI Aprile, west on Via Vittorio Emanuele, south past the port and Piazza Borsellino, then along Via C. There's also the Etna Trasporti/INTERBUS bus (tel. +39-095-530-396; www.interbus.it), which makes hourly runs (7:45am –7:45pm) direct to downtown Catania (the corner of Via Archimede and Via Libertà) in just 10–15 minutes.

Otherwise, head to downtown Catania (as detailed above) and go from there.
