What Is This Turin Place, Anyway?

A brief guide to help you learn more about the host city and the surrounding Italian region, Piemonte


The Basilica of Superga, an incredible baroque church amidst the forested hills surrounding Turin, reached by a cog railway from downtown. On clear days, you can see the whole city spread at your feet, and as far as the Alps and the border with France. (Not on this day, obviously; on this day it was socked in by fog. Sorry.)

Lots of stuff, from clifftop monasteries to vast medieval fortresses, isle-dotted lakes to vine-laced wine hills. Again, I promise to get to posting details on this by, oh, let's say Thursday.
