Comfortable, friendly, and family-run, this is pricey Erice's best value, a pensione tucked away in a quiet corner of town off Piazza San Domenico.

It's a simple place whose large rooms have patterned rugs on tile floors and sometimes a few choice architectural elements like a massive wood beam or column-flanked archway.

Beds aren't the firmest, but will do. Some accommodations come with an adjacent room for a third bed—great for families.

Six accommodations have sea views, four from balconies (though the vista itself is best from the top-floor rooms 115 and 118).

For stays of longer than one day in August, you must take the obligatory half-pension.
