A friendly hotel in the heart of Cefalù's old town

The first real hotel to exist in the heart of Cefalù is the sort of place where repeat guests hug the owners good-bye when they check out. It is not at all fancy, but it is as central as you can get and perfectly comfortable for a mid-priced hotel.

The owners are very proud of the city and its history and traditions, especially in the kitchen, and will be rather unhappy if you don't indulge in the half-pension at their restaurant below.

The cots in the two-dozen mid-size rooms are in good shape, surrounded by functional, wood-plated furnishings. Bathrooms are tiny and often dark (it doesn't bother me, but just so you know). WiFi is free.

Accommodations on street are a bit noisier, but most rooms overlook the tiny Arab courtyards and narrow Saracen alleys of medieval Cefalù—no, not a sweeping view, but a characteristic one.

The roof terrace gets lots of sun and views of the city roof tiles, with the top half of the Duomo facade rising under the Rocca just a few hundred feet away.

Rates follow a bell curve, depending on season and peaking in August.
