Capri's cheapest—and certainly most central—one-star hotel overlooks the tiny bus stop piazza on the main road of Capri Town, just 20 yards before the main Piazzetta. It suffers a bit of a worn, dingy air imparted by the troops of backpackers that book it solid through summer, but it is clean.
Do not stay here unless a cheap backpacker flop appeals to you. Me? I have no problem staying in an utterly bare-bones but clean place, but I do receive letters and e-mails from folks for whom that isn't enough, so fair warning.
Still, the 10 rooms are cozy without being cramped, the patterned tile floors and spanking white walls are clean, and the baths and modular furnishings are in good repair.
The beds, while on cots, are firm enough, and second-floor rooms get a bit better sea view over the shed where minibuses idle from 6am to midnight.
Each of the three bathless room has its own bath in the hall.
