The Gainsborough is a five-star luxury hotel in a Georgian-Victorian building right across the street from the Bath spa complex—not that it needs that proximity, since the hotel is able to tap the underground waters to supply its own thermal pool and private spa.
The rooms are cone in an elegant modern style with a few Georgian decorative nods in the deep slate blue walls, subtle plaster moldings, and pencil posts on the beds' headboards.
The Bath House Spa offers spa treatments, infrared and traditonal saunas, an ice house, steam room, and three thermal pools daily from 10am to 8pm.
Even if you do not book a spa treatment, the thermal pools are open to hotel guests free of charge from 7am to 9am and 8pm to 10pm (though you must be at least 18 to enter).
