A private street art tour with street artist Karim in East London. This experience gives a snapshot of a movement that’s evolving day by day. Given East London's proximity to the City, rich cultural history and status as the UK’s tech hub, it’s easy to see why it’s such a fertile setting.
As you walk around the stylish cultural melting-pot of Shoreditch, active street artist Karim will draw your attention to specific pieces of notable artwork. He is extremely knowledgeable about his craft, and will give you a general overview of the history and culture of street art in London, as well as answering any questions you may have. A hot topic for discussion on this tour will be how artists tread the line between commercial success and ‘keeping it real’, as more and more underground work is absorbed into the mainstream. As you walk around the stylish cultural melting-pot of Shoreditch, active street artist Karim will draw your attention to specific pieces of notable artwork. From the moment your guide (Karim) landed in London from Zimbabwe, Karim was drawn to the city’s graffiti and street art scene. Studying the people and styles that define it, he found himself powerless to resist, and his art can now be seen adorning walls across the capital. His expertise on the subject is also much in demand, and he has conducted highly regarded workshops and tours for clients that include the BBC.
Karim’s enthusiasm is infectious, and it springs from a background in architecture – something that is evident in the “insane knowledge” that he imparts during your time with him. He has certainly inspired us to look closer at the amazing array of urban interventions across the capital. “Street art in London is always in flux,” he says, “and it is a wonderful cacophony of colour and characters.” Join on this tour and fine-tune your eye on the street.

Discover ‘Downton Abbey’ filming sites on a tour by an iconic form of London transport: a black cab. As a private guide drives, learn about the lives of the fictional Crawley family from the hit TV series, and hear about Britain’s present-day aristocracy, too. The must-do tour is available with a choice of three itineraries, each inspired by the program. Visit the Downton village of Bampton; check out Downton Place, aka Greys Court; or tour Highclere Castle, the home of 'Downton Abbey.' The black cabs seat a maximum of five people.
Start your day with a pickup from your London hotel, and travel west out of the city by traditional London black cab. Your private guide for the day is your driver, so chat away as you travel and hear fun facts about the hit Downton Abbey TV series.
After roughly an hour on the road, arrive in rural Oxfordshire. What happens next depends on the option you have booked. Read on for the sample itineraries. Lunch and entrance fees are at your own expense, and all tours finish with a hotel drop-off.
Downton Village Tour:Start with a tour of Bampton, the leafy Oxfordshire dwelling that starred as Downton village. Discover familiar sites such as Downton hospital, the village pub, the local church and even the home of suave Matthew Crawley. Continue through the heart of the Cotswolds to see more of the quintessential villages that typify the area, and enjoy lunch at the pub where Lady Sybil elopes with her chauffeur Branson in the second series. Feeling sated, visit the building that was turned into the pub where John Bates worked when he left the Downton estate.
Downton Place and London Tour:In the third series, the Crawley family downsized to their second home of Downton Place; although in real life, this stately Tudor mansion is better known as Greys Court. On a tour, admire the building’s fine architecture and stylish vintage decor, and learn about the Downton scenes that were filmed at the site. Enjoy a light lunch at Greys Court, and then visit the nearby house that was used by the Dowager Countess. Tour the house, meet the resident pigs in the garden, and finish with afternoon tea: sandwiches plus scones with clotted cream and preserves (own expense).
Return to London in the late afternoon for a tour of the capital to see how the “landed gentry” — or, the English elite — still live today. The drive-by tour takes the theme of Upstairs, Downstairs, another popular British period drama that illustrates the different lives of those who can afford luxuries and those who can’t.
Highclere Castle, Downton Village and London Tour:Take a Downton Abbey tour of Highclere Castle, the setting of the abbey itself, and hear about Lord Grantham who manages the estate in the TV series. See the upstairs area of the abbey where the aristocratic Crawley family spent their time, before a trip downstairs to learn about the lives of servants who once served wealthy families such as the Crawleys. Your Highclere Castle tour finishes with a stroll around the gardens.
Take a break for lunch in the grounds, or perhaps visit an old English inn, nearby. Then, travel to Bampton for a tour of Downton village. In the late afternoon, return to London for the drive-by Upstairs, Downstairs tour. Both afternoon tours are as described above.

Prepare yourself for two hours of unexpected, fully immersive and highly improvised comedy at Faulty Towers The Dining Experience in London's West End. Set in a specially devised Torquay Suite Theatre at the 4-star Amba Hotel Charing Cross, this unique show pays homage to the popular British sitcom ‘Fawlty Towers.' Check in to the theater, be shown to your seat by Basil, Sybil and Manuel, then try not to laugh yourself silly as they serve a 1970s-inspired 3-course lunch or dinner. Expect shocking service, hilarious improvisations and sidesplitting theatrical scenes throughout this interactive and rip-roaringly fun dining experience that has won international acclaim. Please note that as of May 1, the venue will be changed to the Kingsway Hall Hotel in Covent Garden.Make your own way to the Torquay Suite Theatre at the Amba Hotel Charing Cross to begin your unique show and dining experience. Set in the grand 4-star splendor of this Victorian city hotel, this once-in-a-lifetime dining experience is an affectionate homage to the hit 1970s British sitcom Fawlty Towers, written by John Cleese and Connie Booth.
After ‘checking in,’ perhaps head to Basil's bar to enjoy a pre-dinner drink (own expense) as you wait for the fun to start. Chuckle in amusement as you watch the hotel proprietor, Basil Faulty, rush around greeting guests, and hear Sybil’s shrill cries of “BAS-IL!” bouncing off of the walls while Manuel tries to serve the nuts.
Take your seat as Basil frantically ushers everyone to their places at one of the shared tables, and prepare to laugh yourself silly during what is likely to be one of the most comical lunch or dinner experiences you have ever had.
With only a third of the show scripted, no two dining experiences are ever the same. And with Basil, Sybil and Manuel acting as the waiting staff, expect everything but ‘good’ service. In true Fawlty Towers form, everything that can go wrong, will go wrong — hilariously so.
During the 2-hour experience, dine on a 1970s-inspired 3-course meal consisting of dishes such as spiced carrot and fennel soup, and chicken with tarragon mash and vegetables. Before and during the meal, watch as Basil, Sybil and Manuel wander between tables, mingling with diners and loosely recreating some classic, not to mention hysterical, scenes from the TV show.
With a full stomach and a smile spread across your face, your experience concludes when you ‘check out’ of the Torquay Suite Theatre.
Please note: as of May 1, the venue will be changed to the Kingsway Hall Hotel in Covent Garden.

Perhaps take a break in the center’s coffee bar, or browse for quirky souvenirs in the gift shop. If you visit during peak times (April to October) you can also see live performances in the foyer.
After exploring, use your ticket (given to you on entering Ripley’s Believe It or Not!) for a 2-course meal and soda inside nearby Planet Hollywood. Make your own way to the restaurant and take a seat at your table. After your meal, why not visit the restaurant’s themed rooms like the Bond Room or the trendy Cabana Room. Activities, walks, & excursions tours- Viator.com - Best one-stop shopping site for all sorts of activities, walking tours, bus tours, escorted day trips, and other excursions. It is actually a clearinghouse for many local tour companies and outfitters, and since it gets a bulk-rate deal on pricing (and takes only a token fee for itself), you can actually sometimes book an activity through Viator for less than it would cost to buy the same exact tour from the tour company itself. (I once booked a Dublin pub crawl via Viator and later discovered that I saved about $1.50; also, the tour turned out to be sold-out, and they were turning away the folks in front of me in line, but since I had a pre-booked voucher I got in.)Partner
- Londonwalks.com - Since the 1970s, the gold standard in city walking tours and museum tours—and cheap, to boot. Just meet your guide at the appointed time and place (usually a Tube stop), pay your £10 (students or over 65s are £8; under 15 free), and prepare for a good two hours of amazing cultural insight and historic anecdotes. If you plan on taking three or more walks, buy a "Frequent London Walker" card for £2 from your first guide, then each subsequent walk costs £8. They also run popular excursions outside London for £18. Note that the fee just covers the guided tour; you pay for any admissions (or, for excursions, travel expenses) yourself.
- Contexttravel.com - This bespoke walking tour company doesn't even call its 200 tour leaders "guides." It calls them "docents"—perhaps because most guides are academics and specialists in their fields: history professors, archeologists, PhDs, art historians, artists, etc. Groups are miniscule (often six people maximum), and most docents can be booked for private guiding sessions as well. They aren't always the cheapest tours, but they are invariably the best. People rave about Context.Partner
- City-discovery.com - Chief rival to Viator (though with a less spiffy interface and often sub-par text descriptions), representing many of the same tours (at the same prices). However, it also seems to cover more destinations, especially secondary ones. When it comes down to it, City-Discovery and Viator have maybe 70% the same inventory, but then 30% will be completely different (some Viator has City-Discovery does not, other vice-versa) so it pays to check through the offerings from both.Partner

A focal point for graffiti writers and street artists, east London gives a snapshot of a movement that’s evolving day by day. Given its proximity to the City, rich cultural history and status as the UK’s tech hub, it’s easy to see why it’s such a fertile setting.
On a walk round the neighbourhood, active street artist Karim will uncover the many layers of urban art that have appeared on the district’s walls – some obvious, some hidden – and introduce the key players and notable pieces. A hot topic for discussion on this SideStory Experience will be how artists tread the line between commercial success and ‘keeping it real’, as more and more underground work is absorbed into the mainstream.

For a multi-sensory experience, head up to the “open-air” skydeck on level 72 where you can feel the breeze and hear the subtle sounds of the city below.
Make your own way to the Torquay Suite Theatre at the Amba Hotel Charing Cross to begin your unique show and dining experience.
