Hotel Villa Schuler

An old fashioned garden hotel in Taormina, Sicily

Nestled within its own fragrant terraced gardens, the Villa Schuler looks over the Ionian Sea from a premier site below Piazza IV Aprile.

Gerardo Schuler's grandfather built it to be a private home, but the family's run it as a hotel since 1905.

Sea-view rooms look across the flowery and palm-shaded gravel terrace where most guests take their breakfast. (Via Roma runs directly below this terrace, meaning garden-view rooms are slightly quieter, if smaller and less attractive.)

Accommodations are fitted with modular furniture mixed with characterful antiques. Most rooms have balconies; nos. 29–32 on the top floor share a terrace with a vista from the Greek Theater to the coast.

They offer WiFi, access to nearby tennis courts, and a free chair and umbrella at the beach, to which you can catch a shuttle bus (May to November).
