Beccafumi, Domenico (Domenico di Jacopo di Pace; 1484-1551) - Most important Sienese Mannerist painter, greatly influenced by Rome's chiaroscuro style, the innovations of Michelangelo and Raphael, and the painting of his main rival, the more classically-inspired Sodoma. You'll find Beccafumi's works throughout Siena, including numerous paintings in Siena's Pinacoteca and an important ceiling in the Palazzo Pubblico; he also designed many floor panels in Siena Duomo (mostly covered; the cartoons are in the Pinacoteca).
