Lake Bled is encircled by a jogging path that takes about 90 minutes to stroll around, or 45 minutes to bike it—pausing frequently to snap pictures of the baorque church on The Island. (It's called "The Island" because tiny Slovenia—barely bigger than New Jersey—has only a scrap of coastline and this one big lake, and this is the only island in the entire country.) Mountain bikes rent for 700 sit ($3.50) per hour, or 1,500 sit ($8) per half-day, at Kompas Bled (+386-(0)4-574-1515, www.kompas-bled.si), located up the stairs and around the back of the big, ugly modern shopping center in the middle of Bled town and open daily 8am to 7pm.
