Fiji layout
The main islands of Fiji
Of Fiji's 333 larger islands, about 100 are inhabited.
Viti Levu
Viti Levu is the main island, as big as all the other islands put together and home to 75% of the popuation.
Suva, on Viti Levu's southeast coast, is the capital and main city, but Nadi ("nandi") on the west coast is the main port of entry and home to the airport.
Circle south from Nadi for about 90 minutes to the heart of the sugar cane fields along the Coral Coast, a seascape of sugar sand beaches from which stretch wide, shallow reef shelves.
Other islands
To escape the tourist crowds on Viti Levu, try one of the other islands
- Taveuni, the postcard tropical isle
- Kadavu, the diver's paradise
- Yanuca, the backpacker/surfer haven
- Ovalau, home to the colonial capital town Levuka
- Vanua Leva, Fiji's laid-back, second largest, and far less developed major island
